About This Quote
In the book, The Last Detail , Peter T. Chattaway tells a story of a man who had been conscripted into the war effort. He was a sailor aboard a naval ship called the USS Reprisal . He was on his way to being stationed in Japan, but stopped at a US Naval base in Hawaii for a night.
A few days later the ship was boarded by Japanese soldiers and he was taken prisoner. When he awoke from his sleep, he realized that he had been moved to another location. He found himself in a strange place, with strange people.
The next day he began to tell stories of his experiences to everyone around him.
